DEADWOOD, S.D. (09/11/17) – REO Speedwagon has a list of hit records and awards that are so numerous; they have become more of a legend than a working band. This renowned band is still making the rounds and will make a stop at Deadwood Mountain Grand on Sunday, January 21st for an 8pm show. The concert will cap off a full weekend in Deadwood as the annual ISOC Deadwood Snocross Shoot-out is scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings at the Days of ’76 Rodeo Grounds.
Formed in 1968 REO Speedwagon made a name for themselves with their soaring guitars, melodic piano, and reverb-laden arena balladry, and continue to live on in classic radio playlists and the hearts of millions of aging listeners.
The band debuted on Epic records in 1971, but it was 1980’s Hi Infidelity with its iconic power ballad “Keep on Loving You” that launched the band into the spotlight. Good Trouble added the hit “Keep the Fire Burnin’” in 1982 and 1984’s Wheels Are Turnin’ added “Can’t Fight This Feeling” to the soundtrack of adolescent slow dances of a generation. Ignored by the Grammys, REO enjoyed more street-level support, selling nine million copies of Hi Infidelity. The band continues to tour, consistently filling arenas around the world.
“We are thrilled to bring REO Speedwagon back to Deadwood Mountain Grand,” said General Manager Susan Kightlinger. “Kevin Cronin still has one of the most distinct voices in music today and we couldn’t be happier to host them once again at Deadwood Mountain Grand.
