A different type of hot act took to the Deadwood Mountain Grand Event Center stage recently, as freshly fried onion rings, shrimp, French fries and potato chips were center stage.
It’s official. The 98-room luxury Deadwood Mountain Grand boutique hotel was unveiled to the public in style Thursday with an official ribbon cutting ceremony and Deadwood Chamber of Commerce mixer.
“I congratulate the owners,” said Deadwood Mayor Francis Toscana. “They’ve done a tremendous job here -- all of the partners and contractors.” “I’m glad the city could play a small role in the rest of the Slime Plant renovation project. This is a great addition to the community and we wish them a lot of success.”
Another ‘Grand’ day in Deadwood will soon dawn, as the Deadwood Mountain Grand Hotel will celebrate the ‘Grand’ opening of its new 98-room boutique hotel with an event-filled day Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21st.
“We can now offer our guests a complete package,” said Deadwood Mountain Grand general manager Brad Hemmah. “We’ve added our offerings slowly, the casino, the entertainment, our restaurants and lounges, and now, the hotel. It definitely rounds out our property and makes it more customer guest friendly. Guests will find it’s been well worth the wait.”
The George Jones concert, scheduled for Saturday, April 21 has been rescheduled for November 3, 2012.
“This is not a cancellation for George Jones,” said Deadwood Mountain Grand general manager Brad Hemmah. “It’s a rescheduled concert and there’s a big difference.”
Jones, who was recently hospitalized for an upper respiratory infection has since been released from the hospital, but is not recuperating fast enough to perform Saturday’s show.
More than a decade after planning started and three years after construction began, the Deadwood Mountain Grand complex will be complete today when its 98-room hotel opens.
The hotel joins the property’s 2,500-seat events center, casino, restaurant and lounge, which all opened last summer, in the heart of the city’s historic downtown.
“We are so excited to be completing our project and be able to share it with the community,” said Tiana Shelton, the hotel’s manager. “We can’t wait to actually open our doors and show them the project that’s been 10 years in the making.”
