The story of Bill's Backstage Bar

Bill's Backstage Bar is a tribute to the late Bill McDavid, whose vision of a live music venue in the the old Homestake ore plant became Deadwood Mountain Grand. A Deadwood transplant, Bill grew up in the Texas car business, yet his real love was country music. He and songwriting partner Freddy Powers penned some of country music's best-known songs. His friend Willie Nelson recorded several of Bill's songs.

Bill died before he could see his project, dubbed Deadwood City Limits, built. His partners renamed it Deadwood Mountain Grand and forged ahead to make his dream come true. They named Bill's Backstage Bar in his honor.
